Is snorkel gear included? Can I bring my own?
Mask, snorkel, fins, towels, and drinking water are provided on snorkel days. Bringing a well-fitting personal mask/snorkel is perfectly fine.
Are the nurse sharks safe?
Encounters are with docile nurse sharks under guide supervision. Maintain calm behaviour, give wildlife space, and follow instructions at all times.
What’s the accommodation like?
A comfortable 4-star island guesthouse/hotel on Maafushi (twin share by default). Private double/twin and private single rooms can be requested subject to availability and any applicable supplements.
What meals are included?
Six breakfasts, one lunch (snorkel/sandbank day), and two dinners (welcome and farewell). Other meals are at your own expense—Maafushi has plenty of casual options.
Can dietary requirements be catered for?
Usually, with prior notice at booking. Island sourcing can be limited once on tour, so early communication is important.
What’s the group size and age range?
Minimum 6, maximum 21. Age 8+; guests under 18 must travel with a parent or legal guardian.
What should I wear on a local island?
Dress modestly off Bikini Beach (shoulders and knees covered). Swimwear is for designated beaches/boat days only. A rash vest/sun shirt is ideal for UV protection.
Is alcohol available?
Not on inhabited islands. Sunset drinks are available on floating bar boats or during optional private-resort day visits.
How does money work on Maafushi?
Prices are in Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR), but USD is widely accepted for tours/tips. ATMs can be limited—carry a mix of small USD notes and a fee-free card.
Is Wi-Fi and mobile data available?
Hotels typically offer Wi-Fi. For reliable data, purchase a local SIM at Malé Airport (common providers include Dhiraagu and Ooredoo).
What luggage should I bring?
One compact overnight bag (~15 kg) plus a small daypack works best for boats and sandy lanes. A dry bag is highly recommended for electronics on snorkel days.
What about drones?
Drone use is often restricted over inhabited islands and beaches. Seek permission locally before flying and respect privacy.
Is travel insurance required?
Strongly recommended, especially for water activities and medical evacuation coverage.
When and where does the tour start and finish?
Start: Arrive Malé (MLE) → express speedboat to Maafushi; meet in the hotel foyer at 5:00 pm on Day 1.
Finish: Speedboat Maafushi → Malé (MLE) on Day 7, timed to your flight.
Can itineraries change due to weather?
Yes. The ocean sets the tempo. Sites and daily order can shift with wind, swell, and visibility to keep the experience safe and enjoyable.
Are optional activities guaranteed?
Optional add-ons (e.g., whale shark dive, jet ski, parasailing, resort day) are at your own cost and subject to local conditions and operator availability.
Any sustainability tips?
Use reef-safe sunscreen, avoid touching coral or marine life, carry a refillable water bottle, and minimise single-use plastics. Treat the reef like a living museum and the village like someone’s home.
